Billy's new family adopted him on Saturday and from what I hear, he is getting along great with their other 2 dogs. Yay for Billy. :)
This is Billy! I haven't been very diligent with taking photos lately, so I only have two. I caught him climbing around on my desk this afternoon which was pretty funny.
Billy is about 3 years old, has just completed heartworm treatments and is taking antibiotics and eyedrops. He's got some dandruff on his behind and dry eyes. He's also more than a little nearsighted. When we were in the back yard last week he ran into the side of the house and then this morning when I took him for a short walk here at work, he walked right into a hole in the ground. I thought he would step over it but he didn't, he just plopped right in there. >_<
He's very affectionate, follows my every move. I was in a part of the shop where's he's not allowed to go, and he couldn't see me and that's when he climbed onto my desk. At home he barks at the doorbell so I thought he might worry the Fed Ex guy but he hasn't barked at anyone today at all. He's not really quiet though, he sounds like a grumbling old man most of the time. He grumbles while he gnaws on his foot, he whines when he tries to scratch his back. He snores. He wheezes while he's eating. It's like living with Mr. Blob from the Gigglesnort Hotel. :) He's adorable.
Bucket has been taken to the vet. There is some hope that his condition is treatable. Waiting to hear some news.
Saturday, July 5
spent most of the day playing, nothing unusual.
7 pm - dinner, Iams puppy food
8:30 pm - first seizure. he was asleep, started shaking, was very quiet, completely stiff, rolled onto his back, legs in the air, peed. lasted about 2 minutes.
2 a.m. - second seizure, he was asleep in his kennel, started barking and struggling trying to go somewhere, frothing at the mouth, peeing, lasted about 2 minutes, walked in right-handed circles for about 5 minutes afterwards, whimpering, took him outside, he ran back and forth for a while and went potty. he keeps running into the wall and into furniture. put him back in his kennel around 2:45 am and he curled up on his blanket.
Sunday, July 6
7:45 am - third seizure, same as the others. he's losing some abilities, runs aimlessly until he runs into something, he turns around a few times looking before he follows the sound of my voice.
8 am - took him out in the yard to eat and play. he ate just fine but then wandered in right-handed circles and cried. he started to chase the other pugs but gave up and went to lie down in the shade so i brought him back inside. he was trying to chase things in the kitchen but when he goes to jump up and grab a pants leg or whatever, his back legs go out from under him. now he's gone back into his kennel. the door's open but he's not coming out. which is strange for him because he usually runs and runs until he passes out somewhere random.
11 am - still sleeping in his kennel.
12:30 pm - He's awake. I took him outside for a potty break and now he's in here chewing on my shoes. He's still very uncoordinated but he's playing ok.
12:45 pm - fourth seizure. they seem to be getting more violent. he cried a lot this time and really fought it. he's still crying periodically. very disoriented.
Bucket is about 9 weeks old and he's completely adorable. He loves his food, but really doesn't like to have the back of his neck scratched. If you're lookin for pug lovins, try scratching his back right above his tail. He likes that. The best time to cuddle is after he's done his pug derbies around the house for a few hours. He loves to chase a ball, especially if it makes a rattling noise. An empty soda bottle with a bell inside is lots of fun.
Once he's all tired out, it's safe to snuggle. He's also fine curling up in a comfy blanket and sleeping in his kennel all through the night. Just be sure to let him outside first thing in the morning. He knows where to go, but he won't have a lot of time to get there.
And now here come the pictures!
